Headspace offers guided meditation and sleep content in a friendly, approachable package, making mindfulness less intimidating for beginners.
Headspace offers guided meditation, mindfulness exercises, sleep content, and focus music through a subscription app. Content ranges from one-minute breathing exercises to multi-week courses.
Subscriptions cost around $12.99 per month or $69.99 per year. A free trial is often available. Some employer and student plans offer discounted access.
Best for beginners who want structured meditation and people who struggle with sleep. Experienced meditators may prefer apps with less guidance or more tradition-specific content.
Headspace lowers the barrier to mindfulness with friendly design and short sessions. The sleep library is particularly strong.
The sleepcasts are the only thing that reliably puts me to sleep. I have tried white noise apps and they are not as immersive.
The beginner course is excellent. It explains meditation without spiritual baggage and keeps sessions short enough to stick with.
The library feels smaller than Calm and updates slowly. Once you finish the core packs, there is less reason to stay subscribed.
I use the SOS sessions before presentations. Three minutes of breathing makes a noticeable difference in my nerves.
